About the event

Experience the Transformational Power of Yin Yoga

Join expert teacher Maura Manzo to dive into the profound practice of Yin Yoga, a powerful and transformative tool for unlocking optimal mind-body health!

Yin Yoga is an invaluable complement to vigorous exercise routines, offering a counterbalance to the dynamic and high-energy demands often placed on the body. Unlike more vigorous styles of yoga or intense physical activities, Yin Yoga adopts a passive approach that targets the deep connective tissues, ligaments and joints. Characterized by longer-held, passive poses ranging from 3-10 minutes, yin yoga has its own edginess - it’s simple but not necessarily “easy” or comfortable. Yin Yoga facilitates a profound release of tension, promoting flexibility, enhancing circulation, and stimulating the flow of energy throughout the body.

Incorporating Yin into a fitness or training regimen not only aids in preventing injuries by addressing imbalances and promoting joint health but also encourages a mindful connection to one's body, fostering a holistic approach to overall well-being and contributing to a more balanced and sustainable approach to both physical fitness and life.

This practice is appropriate for all skill levels. No experience necessary. Designed for the inflexible and flexible, alike. Led by expert teacher Maura Manzo, known for her ability to make the practice accessible for all bodies.

Intro to Yin Yoga: 4-Week Series, Mondays February 5-26, 7:30p

Week 1: Foundations of Yin

Embark on your Yin Yoga journey with a strong foundation. In week one, we'll delve into the principles of Yin Yoga, exploring the philosophy behind this  practice. Learn about the significance of long-held poses, connective tissues, and the art of finding stillness. Each session will focus on fundamental postures, alignment, and the importance of breath awareness to help improve range of motion, mobility, flexibility and overall mind-body connection.

Week 2: Yin Yoga for Lower Body

Practice will target the hips, pelvis, legs and lower back, as well as knee and ankle joints. Yoga poses will mindfully stretch and release tension in these targeted areas. Experience the profound benefits of extended pose holds as we aim to enhance flexibility, promote joint health, and instill a sense of mindfulness.

Week 3: Yin Yoga for Upper Body

This practice is designed to bring balance, release tension, and enhance flexibility in your shoulders, neck, upper back, and arms. In this session, you'll experience a sequence of Yin Yoga poses strategically chosen to gently stretch and open the connective tissues and joints of the upper body. By holding these poses for extended periods, we aim to release stored tension, improve mobility, and foster a deep sense of relaxation.

Week 4: Yin Yoga for Stress Relief

A well-rounded full body practice that incorporates breathing and mindfulness techniques to promote optimal mind-body health and harmony. It’s here that we learn to stay and be still, to witness our own experience will less reactivity and more reflection. Expect to leave feeling stretched, grounded and more at ease.
