Member Spotlight: Gabrielle Elefante

Gabrielle Elefante, another 5:30 a.m. class regular! Gabby is so much fun to coach—she’s tough, hardworking, loves learning new things, and is incredibly strong. She’s always up for a challenge and puts her head down to get the work done. No shortcuts, no picking the easy weight, no opting for an alternative movement when something is new or unfamiliar.
Gabby lifts up those around her, encouraging others to push harder and do more—simply through her actions in the gym.
Outside of the gym, Gabby is a 7th-grade math teacher at Egg Harbor City Community School, where she’s taught both math and science for the past eight years. This year, her dedication has been recognized with the honor of being named Teacher of the Year.

What brought you to Ola Kai?
When Ola Kai opened I was interested in seeing the CrossFit style classes. I had never done anything quite like that before!
What is your favorite thing about Brigantine?
My favorite thing about Brigantine is the incredible community, where people look out for each other without having to ask. It is something so special.
How do you feel the type of training you do at Ola Kai helps you in your personal life?
The training at Ola Kai helps me in my personal life because working out gives me an outlet to release stress and focus on the good things. It is a positive start to my mornings!
What are some of the biggest benefits you’ve felt since you started at Ola Kai?
One of the biggest benefits I’ve felt since starting Ola Kai was meeting a network of incredible people that I never would’ve had the chance to meet. Everyone is so friendly and supportive!
What class(es) do you enjoy the most?
My favorite classes are the Saturday partner workouts! It is so fun to team up with a friend and push each other.
What’s one thing you’ve achieved since becoming a member?
My biggest achievement since starting was that I learned how to do pull-ups!
What is one fitness goal you have this year?
My next fitness goal is to do a muscle up.
What are some of your favorite things to do on the island?
My favorite things to do on the island are walk with my dog, go to the beach, and hang with friends in the sunshine!
