Jocie Dye has been a dedicated member of Ola Kai since we first opened our doors in July 2023. As part of our committed 5:30 AM crew, I’ve had the privilege of not only coaching her regularly but also working out alongside her. From day one, Jocie has stood out with her dedication, determination, and willingness to put in the work.
Before joining us, she had little experience with technical barbell movements, but her progress in both strength and technique has been nothing short of inspiring. She never hesitates, never questions the workout—no matter how intense—she just shows up and gives it her all, every single class.
Beyond being an outstanding workout partner, Jocie is also a loving and devoted mom to her daughter, Jade. As a mom to a toddler myself, I love hearing about her experiences navigating life with a now college-aged child. Though we’re in different stages of motherhood, the wisdom she shares is something I truly cherish and tuck away for the future.

What brought you to Ola Kai? I have always worked out, but usually on my own. I had been feeling for a while that I needed something new to amp up my routine, so as soon as Ola Kai opened, I started signing up for classes.
What is your favorite thing about Brigantine? I am fortunate to have an amazing view, so I’m gonna have to say the sunrises.
How do you feel like the type of training you do at Ola Kai helps you in your personal life? I feel healthier, stronger, sharper, and more connected. It’s really physical, mental, & socio-emotional for me.
What physical benefits are you seeing (sleep, work, eating, mental, etc). Working out has always been an important part of my mental health regime - it really helps me feel sharper & manage stress better.
What are some of the biggest benefits you have felt since you started at Ola Kai? Other than the strength I have gained, Ola Kai has become such an integral part of my socio-emotional wellbeing, too. I love the people there, and for someone who works remotely & doesn’t really go out at night, the personal connections I’ve made here have been invaluable.
What class(es) do you enjoy the most? I really enjoy them all - strength & conditioning, circuit training, the partner classes, yoga. I haven’t met a class yet that I haven’t enjoyed. Some that I feel like I’ve barely survived :), but I always feel better having gone.
What’s one thing you’ve achieved since becoming a member? I have definitely gotten much stronger.
What is one fitness goal you have in the coming year? Completing the Winter Warriors challenge in OC this month, and not embarrassing my team members!
What are some of your favorite things to do on the island? Beach, beach, beach. Is winter over yet?
